Wild Basin - Bluebird Lake?

Bluebird lake was the plan for the day, an out-and-back totaling 12 miles. This hike starts at the Wild Basin Trailhead of RMNP, and passes water falls and alpine lakes. Start time: 6am

The river was much higher than usual due to the 300% of average snowfall.

Parts of the trail were underwater.

Believe it or not, this is the trail.

Cascades, a couple of miles in.

Ouzel Falls.

A friendly native, this Marmot was not at all scared of me.

After hiking on nothing but snow for about an hour with no sign of the trail or Bluebird Lake, I decided to turn  back.

Lunch time at Ouzel Falls.

Dinner?
